It may be hard to believe, but this past weekend Sunsense celebrated its 25th Anniversary! Going solar has gained a lot of popularity and momentum in recent years, and solar is a rapidly growing industry. However, the technology has been around for decades–as has Sunsense.
Sunsense’s Founder and President, Scott Ely, started this operation out of his garage back in 1990. At that point, all solar PV systems were off grid and battery based. Whether it be by snowmobile or skis—Scott was there trekking to remote areas of Colorado to bring power to the people.
Over the years, Sunsense has evolved along with the Solar industry–adding residential and commercial departments to the company to offer more people solar for their home and solar for their business – and growing into a company of 15 full time employees.
In addition, Sunsense has long prioritized community involvement. From teaching children about solar energy and volunteering at local festivals with our Education Station (or E-Station as we like to call it) to installing solar PV on (12) Habitat for Humanity homes. Sunsense supports local causes and spreads the word about solar.
Over the past 25 years Sunsense has designed and installed for a wide variety of solar applications. Everything from 2 kW off grid systems to 2 MW community solar arrays. We continue to work in a myriad of markets including off-grid, commercial and utility scale and have recently launched a fully staffed service department to provide on-going operations and maintenance.
There are several factors to which we can attribute the longevity of our company, including great leadership, an emphasis on highly trained and qualified personnel, and perhaps most importantly, a focus on customer satisfaction. And with these same attributes in mind, we are ready for another wonderful 25 years of going solar!
